The outcome survey (PROMs)
Before and after your surgery, you will be asked to complete a short survey about your pain, function, and quality of life. It helps your team and the wider health system understand how surgery is working, and it takes only a few minutes.
Patient-reported outcomes
PROMs stands for Patient-Reported Outcome Measures. For hip and knee replacement, the survey asks about your pain, your day-to-day function, your quality of life, and your orthopaedic care, in your own words. Completing it before and after surgery lets your team see how much the operation has helped.
Complete the survey twice
Once in the two months before your surgery. You can do this at home, or during your pre-anaesthetic testing appointment.
Once more, nine to fifteen months after your surgery, so your recovery can be compared with how you were before.
Complete it online
The survey is online, and you can complete it at home or on your own phone or tablet. If you need help, contact the office.
This survey is part of St. Michael's Hospital's outcome tracking. It does not replace your appointments or any advice from your care team.
